Early & Absentee Voting

 

In Vermont, we make it easy to vote. If you prefer to vote early or by mail you can! Voting starts as soon as ballots are available—not later than 45 days before the primary or general election and 20 days prior to a municipal election that uses the Australian ballot.

Deadlines
All early voter absentee ballot requests in Morristown must be submitted by 4:00 PM on the day before the election.  All ballots must be returned to the town clerk’s office before the close of the office on the day before the election, or to the polling place before 7:00 PM on the day of the election, in order to be counted.

2024 Annual Town Meeting Ballots
Ballots will be automatically mailed to all active registered voters by February 14, 2024. Prepaid return postage will NOT be included.

2024 Annual School Meeting Ballots
Ballots will be automatically mailed to all active registered voters by February 14, 2024. Prepaid return postage will NOT be included.

2024 Presidential Primary Ballots
Available on January 19, 2024. Ballots will NOT be automatically mailed.  You must request your ballot if you want to vote absentee. 

2024 Statewide Primary Ballots
Ballots will NOT be automatically mailed.  You must request your ballot if you want to vote absentee. 

2024 General Election Ballots
Ballots will be automatically mailed to all active registered voters by September 20, 2024.

Returning Ballots

Before Election Day 

  •          Drop off: in the secure official drop box in front of the Morristown Municipal Building
  •          Hand Deliver: to the Morristown Town Clerk’s Office
  •          Mail: Put the Voted Ballot Certificate Envelope inside the pre-addressed mailing envelope

On Election Day 

  •          Drop off on Election Day: bring to polling location by 7:00 PM

Military and Overseas Voter Absentee Ballot Requests
To register to vote and request an absentee ballot, visit the My Voter Page.

Military or overseas voters may also request an absentee ballot by telephone, fax, email, or by mail. You may also request that the unvoted ballot and certificate for the return envelope be sent to you by email, fax, or mail. Under Vermont law, voted ballots must be returned to the town clerk inside the absentee certificate envelope (with the voter’s original signature) and voted ballots may not be returned by fax or email.
