Morristown has formed a Town Charter Committee which shall be tasked with assisting and advising the Selectboard in drafting a Town Charter.
The charge of the Committee will include the following:
- Work in collaboration with the Administration Department who shall serve as principal staff person to the committee
- Attend monthly meetings
- Identify one articulate member to serve as the scribe or drafter of the charter
- Review draft charter examples
- Work as a group in determining the contents of Morristown’s first Charter
- Include draft language to support local option sales tax
- Present a draft/final Town Charter for consideration by the Selectboard
- Attend public meetings
