Justice Waples

Please join the Morristown Civic Project on June 23 at 5:30 pm to welcome the Honorable Nancy Jear Waples, Vermont Supreme Court Justice to the Morristown Centennial Library

The Morristown Civic Project is honored to host the Honorable Nancy Jear Waples, who has been serving as an associate justice of the Vermont Supreme Court since 2022. Justice Waples will speak about the judicial branch and its relationship with the other branches of government in Vermont, as well as discuss the Constitution as the foundation of judicial decision-making and writing.

Justice Waples is the daughter of Chinese immigrants who fled the communist revolution. Learning English as a second language, she became a U.S. citizen in 1977.  She is the first person of color and only the fifth woman to serve on Vermont’s highest court.

Help us celebrate our country's 250th anniversary by honoring the document that forms the bedrock of our democracy, and the important role that the judicial branch plays in our system of checks and balances.
