Board of Civil Authority (BCA)
The Board of Civil Authority (BCA) includes the Town’s elected Justices of the Peace, Selectboard members, and the Town Clerk.
The BCA helps run local elections, keeps the town’s voter checklist up to date, and hears appeals from taxpayers who disagree with their property assessments.
The BCA also makes up most of the Board for the Abatement of Taxes, which works with the Town Treasurer and the Board of Listers to decide whether certain taxes should be reduced or canceled.
