Posting Land

The Vermont constitution has protected the right to hunt, fish and trap on open, private land since its drafting in 1793.  Posting laws and regulations honor this commitment while also ensuring landowners have the protections they need to control their property.

To legally post property in Morristown a form must be filed annually with the Town Clerk.  The filing fee is $5.00 payable to the Town of Morristown.  Contact the Town Clerk's Office to obtain a form.

After receiving the form and fee the Town Clerk will record the posting in the clerk's office and send a copy to Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife for their records.

Learn more about posting requirements on the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department website.
