 ibrary.org/]. \n\nThe Morristown Civic Project is honored to host the Hon
 orable Nancy\nJear Waples\, who has been serving as an associate justice o
 f the\nVermont Supreme Court since 2022. Justice Waples will speak about 
 the\njudicial branch and its relationship with the other branches of\ngov
 ernment in Vermont\, as well as discuss the Constitution as the\nfoundatio
 n of judicial decision-making and writing. \n\nJustice Waples is the daug
 hter of Chinese immigrants who fled the\ncommunist revolution. Learning En
 glish as a second language\, she\nbecame a U.S. citizen in 1977.  She is
  the first person of color\nand only the fifth woman to serve on Vermont
 ’s highest court. \n\nHelp us celebrate our country's 250th anniversary
  by honoring the\ndocument that forms the bedrock of our democracy\, and t
 he important\nrole that the judicial branch plays in our system of checks 
 and\nbalances.\n
