A statewide Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

Polling Location and Hours

Hours: Polls open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m.

Location: Community Meeting Room of the Municipal Offices 43 Portland Street, Morrisville, VT.

Voter Registration

There is no deadline to register to vote in Vermont; you may register at the polls on Election Day. However, residents are encouraged to register early by visiting the Town Clerk’s office or going online to the Vermont Voter Portal: https://vote.vermont.gov

Primary Election Party Choice

Because Vermont does not have voter registration by political party, all voters will be handed three separate ballots: Democratic, Progressive, and Republican.

  • You do not have to declare your party choice to election officials.

  • You may only vote for candidates on one (1) of the party ballots.

  • The other two (2)  unvoted ballots must be handed to the election official to place in the unvoted ballot bin.

Early and Absentee Voting

Please note that the Secretary of State’s Office will not be automatically mailing ballots to all active voters for this primary election. Ballots are available now, and voters must request one if they wish to vote early.

The absolute deadline to request an early/absentee ballot for this election is Monday, August 10, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.

How to Request a Ballot

You, a family member, or an authorized person can request a ballot in person at the Clerk's office, in writing, by phone, or online via the Vermont Voter Portal.

Options for Voting Early (Within 45 Days of the Election)
  • In person: Vote in the Town Clerk's office during regular business hours (Monday–Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.).
  • Pick Up: Take your own ballots from the clerk's office. (You can not pick up ballots for others.)
  • By Mail: Have the ballot mailed directly to you
  • Military / Overseas / Accessible Voting: If you are in the military, live overseas, are ill or disabled, or in the Safe at Home address confidentiality program, you may receive your ballot electronically and utilize our accessible online ballot marking tool.  You must print your ballot and return it by mail or in person by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.
  • Homebound Voting: If you are ill or disabled, you may request that two Justices of the Peace deliver a ballot directly to your home on or before Election Day

Important Reminder

All early or absentee ballots must be returned to the polling place or the Town Clerk's office by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day
