At a regular Selectboard meeting Monday evening, the Morristown Selectboard unanimously voted to hire Brent Raymond as their first Town Manager.  A native of Swanton, Vermont, Raymond  previously held leadership positions with the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Congressman Peter Welch.

Morristown received over 100 resumes in a national search.  A selection committee consisting of community members, staff, and a selectboard member whittled the list to five and held interviews in early March.  The selection committee forwarded three finalists for consideration by the Selectboard who, along with Clerk and Treasurer Sara Haskins, selected Raymond to be the Town’s first Town Manager.

According to Selectboard Chair Don McDowell, “Brent clearly distinguished himself from the field based on his interpersonal skills, diverse professional experience, and strong leadership skills.  I think he will be a great fit for Morristown.”

McDowell continued, “We are grateful for all who served on the Town Manager Selection Committee. The process reflected a desire for the next manager to be a stabilizing force, a consensus builder, and a strong leader.  When we interviewed Brent, we felt he checked all the boxes.”

Raymond most recently served as General Manager of the Green Mountains Regional Center, a federally approved sponsor of commercial projects that qualify for Rural Targeted Employment Area (TEA) incentives. Previously, he was the Vice President of Special Projects at Peak Resorts in Wildwood, MO, and the Executive Director of the Global Trade Partnership with the Vermont Agency of Commerce

According to Raymond himself, “I am thrilled with this opportunity to serve the Selectboard and citizens of Morristown. I am eager to get to know the staff, residents, and stakeholders.  Morristown has a lot going for it and I hope to help the Selectboard realize its goals for the Town.”

Raymond is a graduate of CUNY Hunter College, the U.S. Air Force Police Academy, and the Non-commissioned Officers School.
